Meeting called to order 10:10 a.m. by Katie Waters, chairman of the Membership Committee-

This meeting was called to discuss the fact that Leslie Ann Bartlett's term expires April 30, 2006.    She is seeking reappointment.  As per the vote at the 1st Quarter meeting, Leslie's resume will automatically be sent with others that we submit to the Speaker of the House.  The resumes or Bios of several other qualified persons had been forwarded previously to FFEAC members and those names were discussed.  The following slate names were put forward for submission to Speaker Bense for consideration:

Howard Butler
Leslie Ann Bartlett
John Perros
Melody Shaw
Susie Allen

Lew Klechak makes a motion to accept the list as is and submit it to Speaker Bense. John Welch, seconded the motion.  Motion approved.  

Katie Waters reviews the expiration dates of the Council members whose term expires this year.


Kathryn Waters - August 20, 2006 - Governor (seeking reappointment)
Raul Mateu - August 20, 2006 - Governor (will not seek reappointment)
John Welch - September 4, 2006 - Senate President (seeking reappointment)
Hollis Batchelor - September 4, 2006 - Senate President (not eligible for reappointment)
Lorraine Wood- October 16, 2006- Speaker of the House (will not seek reappointment)

Also mentioned are the expirations next year of Paul Meena's and Lew Klechak's terms.  Neither are eligible for reappointment.

A brief update followed about the Members of Distinguished Honor nominations.  John Travolta, Victor Nunez and Andy Garcia have said yes but we have not heard from Gloria Estefan, Jimmy Buffet or Carl Hiaasen.  The Membership Committee is actively seeking a response.  Katie will send out letters with new and different addresses soon.  Committee was reminded that honorary members are not voting members.
