FLORIDA COMPASS LAUNCHES

4/26/2012

IATSE Local 477 announces the creation of Florida COMPASS, (the Florida Congress of Motion Picture Associations) to fund and coordinate legislative efforts to increase Florida-based scripted motion picture production. Local 477, an AFL-CIO affiliate that represents over 1100 of Florida’s professional filmworkers, has led the effort to create COMPASS due to its recognition of a critical need for more effective representation for Florida’s motion picture production workforce in Tallahassee.

COMPASS membership will be comprised only of associations that represent the men and women who make their livelihood working as crew and cast in Florida-based scripted motion picture production, and the Florida-based small businesses, production companies and vendors that support this industry.

Florida-based scripted motion picture production is defined as any feature film, television or commercial production with a budget substantial enough to create family-supporting wages and benefits for its crew and cast.

For information about COMPASS, contact Local 477 president Chris Ranung at chrisranung@aol.com.
