COMPASS ANNOUNCES FIRST INDUSTRY EXPO

7/31/2012

(Miami, FL) The Congress of Motion Picture Associations of Florida (COMPASS) is sponsoring its first Industry Expo on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the International Game Fishing Association Hall of Fame in Dania Beach, Florida. The Expo will focus attention on the Florida motion picture industry as a leading initiator of good jobs and significant economic impact around the state. It is intended to attract business and community leaders, legislators, filmworkers and film school students, as well as the general public to a full day of exhibits, demonstrations and panel discussions on this essential Florida industry. The Expo is scheduled to run from 9:30 in the morning until 5:00 pm.

COMPASS funds and coordinates representation for Florida’s motion picture production workforce in Tallahassee and is comprised of associations that represent the men and women who make their livelihood as crew and cast in Florida-based scripted motion picture production, and the Florida-based small businesses, production companies and vendors that support this industry. The organization advocates pragmatic revision of Florida’s existing entertainment incentives program as a means of increasing the amount of high-impact jobs and maximizing economic impact to Florida communities.

Florida-based scripted motion picture production is defined as any feature film, television or commercial production with a budget substantial enough to create high-impact jobs for Florida’s professional filmworkers.
