Tampa Bay Convention & Visitor Bureau Names New Film Commissioner

7/6/2004

The goal of the film commission is to increase jobs and direct spending in the local community through the promotion of Hillsborough County as a filming destination.

“After an extensive search, we are excited to have Krista as our new Film Commissioner,” said Steve Hayes, Executive Vice President of the CVB. “With her impressive background she brings fresh ideas and a strong drive to enhance the efforts of the film commission.”

Having previously owned her own event management company, Wonder Events, Inc., Soroka’s leadership ability and creativity will be invaluable in implementing her new ideas. Before creating her Tampa based company, Soroka was the Director of Special Events and Public Relations for the Tampa Bay Super Bowl XXXV Task Force where she planned events for thousands of guests ranging from the official Media Party to a VIP Reception and Concert. As Director of Marketing for the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, Soroka developed the commission’s website, created collateral materials and assisted with the John Lynch Salute the Stars program.

“I am honored to represent the Tampa Bay area as the new Tampa Bay Film Commissioner,” said Soroka. “I look forward to working with the local community to promote our area’s unique and diverse scenery, multiple vendors and enthusiastic residents.”

The recent filming of the Punisher established Tampa’s presence in the growing market. By using a strong marketing aspect, Soroka intends on building upon this success through the use of industry partners and client relations.
