Theatre Communications Group Invite Applications for Directors&Designers Career Development Program

1/7/2005

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) have announced the deadlines for NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors and Designers, and a new partnership with the Ford Foundation to increase support for recipients. The program assists early-career directors, as well as scenic, costume, lighting, and sound designers in developing their creative skills and expanding their knowledge of the field.

This year, seven early-career directors and designers will be chosen to participate in the program. Recipients are given the opportunity to spend six months over a two-year period developing their skills through assistantship, observation, research, and travel. Each recipient's program includes a $22,500 stipend and up to $1,000 to support ongoing life needs such as health insurance, child care, or elder care.

Applicants for both programs must: be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; be prepared and able to relocate during the program period; and have no professional or personal commitments that would prevent devoting six full months to program-related activities.

NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Director applicants must have directed at least three fully-staged productions. (Deadline: February 7, 2005.)

NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Designer applicants must have designed three fully-staged professional productions. (Deadline: February 14, 2005.)
