PBS Outreach Opportunity in Your Community

3/11/2005

Opportunities for community outreach partnerships with local public television stations have been developed in conjunction with the Fall 2005 airing of the PBS documentary mini-series, Country Boys.

Local public TV stations may receive grants up to $5,000 to support outreach initiatives focusing on the need for mentoring youth and promoting substance abuse prevention programs. Stations must partner with community leaders and organizations to plan and execute such activities as discussion groups, post-broadcast talk shows, town hall meetings, and mentor registration drives.

Interested organizations are urged to contact their local public television stations right away about partnering on the project. The deadline for stations to submit proposals is March 21, 2005. To locate the outreach staff at a station serving your community, use the Outreach Directory at http://nationaloutreach.org or contact Kelly Brownlee at kelbro@bellsouth.net
