BAYTOWNE FILM FESTIVAL

7/7/2003

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Baytowne Film Festival is underway, and is now accepting entries. This year's festival will take place September 27-28, 2003 at The Village of Baytowne Wharf on the beautiful Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Located on the beaches of Walton County in the Florida Panhandle, our community has experienced a renaissance firmly rooted in the visual arts. Though we are a young festival, we are dedicated to celebrating the art of independent film. The Baytowne Film Festival was born of a passion for film and our overwhelming desire to support the spirit of the independent filmmaker. We hope that you will help us build an outstanding festival that will become a springboard for young filmmakers everywhere.
Last year we were very pleased to showcase the film "Jacob the Movie," written and directed by Wes Ball, a student at Florida State University. He also wrote and directed "A Work in Progress," which won a Student Academy Award, as voted upon by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. It is our vision that this film festival continually grow into a permanent platform Film Schools/Programs who are both driven and inspired, filmmakers who challenge the mind and move the heart with their images and words. With a vision of our own, we now invite all filmmakers to share with us their individual understanding of the word vision. This year's festival, "VISION: an exploration inSight" hopes to elicit films which present artistic interpretations of this simple word with such complex implications. In exchange, we hope to provide a festival that encourages, supports and nurtures the creative outpourings of emerging filmmakers and their works.
The Baytowne Film Festival will be held at The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resorts. Please visit our two websites (www.baytownewharf.com & www.sandestin.com )for more information. We hope you will take this opportunity to discuss and showcase your work in the company of other emerging artists and audiences alike. With your participation, the 2nd Annual Baytowne Film Festival promises to deliver some of the very best in independent film.
