LOCAL FILMMAKERS TO BE FEATURED AT VALENTINE’S DAY FILM FESTIVAL
2/5/2010
“We have about a dozen entries from local filmmakers of various ages and skill levels,” say RJ Murdock, the film festival chairman and the current president of the Production Services Association of NWF (PSA of NWF), the organization promoting the event. “We have a few area high school student filmmakers, a few local production professionals, and even one FSU Film School graduate entered into the competition. The theme of each film is based on the title “_____, A Love Story!” where the filmmaker fills in the blank with a topic of their choice.
All films are rated G/PG and range in time length from 2-13 minutes long. Moviegoers will vote for their favorite films and the winners will be announced at the end of the screening. First Place will win $100 cash and a 2010 PSA membership. Second Place will win $60 and Third Place will win $40. There will also be a few Honorable Mention awards. Door prizes from local merchants will also be given away to audience members.
These films will also be available for viewing and voting online from February 8-13th by following the Film Festival link on PSA website, www.PSAnwf.com. There will also be a special judging screening on Wed, February 10th, at 6pm at the PSA monthly meeting at Fokker’s Sports Pub in Fountain Square in downtown Fort Walton Beach.
This Valentine’s Day Film Festival is sponsored by NBI Properties Inc, a real estate company whose main office is located just across from the Cinema Plus movie theater. “I wanted to create a cultural event for downtown FWB that would bring people to downtown,” say RJ Murdock. “It’s important to have the local merchants involved because this type of event not only benefits them, but everyone in the community. It also helps the PSA promote our production capabilities in our area, as well as provide a training ground and creative outlet for our future indie filmmakers.”
