FORT LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO PREMIERE WATERCOLORS AS PART OF THE ARTEXPLOSION 10

2/5/2010

Watercolors paints a compelling and provocative portrait of a young gay man whose art triggers the memories of his first love. “FLIFF made an excellent choice. The story ties in beautifully with ArtExplosion and we’re elated that the community will have the opportunity to see this stunning film,” commented Keith Clark, Executive Director of ArtsUnited.

Watercolors has received numerous awards for direction and acting at gay and lesbian film festivals including Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Filmout San Diego and L.A. Outfest in Los Angeles.

Tye Olson and Kyle Clare star as the romantic leads with Karen Black and Greg Louganis in supporting roles. Watercolors is the story of a gifted, young artist, Danny (Olson) as he arrives at the opening of his first New York exhibition. His erotic paintings trigger memories of his first love, Carter(Clare) a troubled athlete whose depression and self-denial led to suicide. Through a series of flashbacks we see Danny and Carter struggle with their mutual attraction. With the encouragement of three strong and very different women, Danny learns to use his creativity to transcend his grief. Fifteen years later, Danny is faced with the possibility of losing Allan, his current lover, unless he keeps his promise to never paint the boy again.
