MIAMI-DADE COUNTY’S ANIMAL SERVICES FEATURED IN OPRAH’S BIG GIVE
3/24/2008
MIAMI, March 21, 2008 -- Pets received new toys, beds, collars, leashes, harnesses, cages, much-needed cat litter, and more, thanks to “Oprah’s Big Give”, a new reality TV show hosted by Oprah Winfrey. One of the contestants made a much-needed donation of supplies and Petsmart gift certificates to Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (ASD). It will air on the next edition of “Oprah’s Big Give” this Sunday, March 23, at 9 PM on ABC, Channel 10. On the show, 10 contestants are challenged to make philanthropic contributions in various communities throughout the U.S. "We were thrilled and very pleasantly surprised when this group of anonymous individuals began hauling in tons of stuff for the pets at our shelter,” said ASD Director, Dr. Sara Pizano. “We are very appreciative of the ‘Big Give Show’. Being able to provide a comfortable bed for a dog in distress or toys for playful kittens, translates to happier, more adoptable animals."
