SOUTH FLORIDA INVADES CENTRAL FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL
6/6/2008
CENFLO (August 29-31, 2008), a non profit organization, accepts fifty films each year in the categories of Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short and Best Florida Project. Last year's selections covered seventeen states and eight foreign countries. Only nine of last year's entries came from Florida. However, this year six have come from the Miami area alone.
The "Official Entries" from South Florida include, Documentaries, Ferdinand Magellan: The Presidential Pullman (Florida City), directed by Doug La Rue and Bob Marley And Friends (Merit Island), directed by Saul Swimmer. Featured shorts include, The Gifter (Miami), directed by Shaun Wright and Undocumented (Miami) by first time director Joel Rodriquez. The two feature length films under consideration are, Minotauro (Miami) by first time director Alejandro Cano and A Viking Saga - Son Of Thor (Miami) by another Miami resident Michael Mouyal.
Unique to the Central Florida Film Festival is a film that isn't chosen for the Festival receives a detailed critique. Festival Director Bob Cook explained, “Those that aren't accepted deserve an explanation. I believe if a filmmaker can find and understand what we felt was their weak points it will make them better filmmakers in the long run. Film making is a learning process and the critique is what separates us from other festivals."
The Central Florida Film Festival not only considers itself a festival for filmmakers but film watchers as well. The schedule allows an opportunity to see fifty films, four seminars, and numerous networking gatherings, including a Gala Opening Night mixer and closing night ceremony and party all for fifty dollars ($50). By purchasing tickets ONLINE now through July 31, 2008 you can save an additional twenty percent (20%).
